Terms of service

Who you are agreeing with

CureSpy is run by Croissant Software, MB, a company registered in Lithuania, of an address to be published here. Write to the contact address to be published here about anything on this page. These terms are a contract between you and that company.

What CureSpy is

CureSpy watches public medical research registers — ClinicalTrials.gov, the EU Clinical Trials Register (CTIS) and PubMed — for the conditions and studies you follow, and emails you when something in them moves: a study opening to new people, closing, stopping or finishing, results being posted, or a paper being published about it.

Everything it shows is reproduced from those registers, which are public and which you can read yourself. Every study page links to the official record, and where the two ever disagree, the official record is the one to believe.

The plain-language text is written by a machine

The plain titles, the summaries, the meanings of terms and the answers in the questions panel are written by an AI language model from the official record, so that a person without medical training can read it. We tell the model to say only what the record says, we check what comes back, and we keep the record one link away — but a model can still misread, leave out, or put a thing badly.

Treat the plain text as a reading aid, never as the record and never as advice. If a sentence matters to a decision, read the official record it came from, and ask the study team or your doctor.

What CureSpy is not

• It is not medical advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to start, stop or change any treatment. Whether a study is right for you is a question for you and your doctor.
• It is not a way into a trial. CureSpy does not enrol anyone in research, does not pass your details to any research team, and has no relationship with the sponsors of the studies it reports on.
• It is not a diagnosis, a second opinion, or a substitute for medical care. If you are unwell, speak to a doctor rather than to a website.
• It is not a complete record. A register can be slow to publish, a study team can update its record late, and CureSpy can only report what has actually been posted.

What we promise, and what we do not

CureSpy reads the registers once a night, and again when you follow something new, and sends what it finds about once a week. It does not promise that every development will reach you, or reach you within any particular time: a register can refuse requests, a run can fail, and an email can be delayed by a provider outside our control.

The service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, and we may change how it works, add features or retire them. If a change takes away something you paid for, you can end your plan and the refund policy applies.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 to hold an account. Following research on behalf of a child, a parent or a friend is fine — the account, and the responsibility for it, are still yours.
• An account belongs to one person. Keep the password to yourself, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
• The email address has to be one you can actually receive mail at, since the product is an email product. What you tell us must be true; you need not tell us anything about yourself beyond an email address.

What you agree not to do

• Do not copy the site automatically, republish what it produces as your own, or resell it.
• Do not try to reach other people's accounts or data, probe or overload the service, or get round its limits.
• Do not use CureSpy to give medical advice to anybody else as though it came from a clinician.
• Do not use the questions panel for anything but the study in front of you. It is there to explain one record; questions are limited per day by your plan, and trying to make the model do something else is a breach of these terms.

Plans and payment

CureSpy is free, and the free plan is the whole product: everything is watched, everything is explained, and you can ask the questions panel five questions a day. Supporter, at the price shown on the pricing page, is the same product paid for by somebody who wants to keep it running, with more room to ask: twenty questions a day.

Supporter is sold by Paddle.com, which acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, handles tax and issues the invoice, under its own terms. The price you agree to at checkout is the price that applies for as long as you keep the plan. It renews every month until you cancel, which you can do at any time from your account; you keep Supporter until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing is charged after that.

Because the plan starts at once, you agree that it does before the fourteen-day period the law gives you to change your mind has passed — and in return, the refund policy gives you fourteen days from any payment to ask for it back, no questions asked. If we ever change a price, we will tell you by email at least thirty days before it applies, and you can cancel before it does.

Ending it

You can stop following a condition or a study at any time from your home page, stop the emails from the link at the bottom of any of them, and delete your account from your account page. Deleting the account removes everything stored about you, at once.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms — attacking the service, scraping it, or misusing the questions panel — after telling you why, unless the harm is ongoing. We may also delete an account that has not been signed in to for twenty-four months, after warning you by email a month beforehand and again a week beforehand; sign in once and the count starts again.

We may stop offering CureSpy altogether. If we do, we will tell you by email at least sixty days beforehand, refund any part of a plan you have paid for and not had, and delete what we hold about you when the service closes.

Whose words are whose

The study records belong to the registers that publish them and the people who wrote them. CureSpy's own text, design and code are ours; you may use the site for yourself and share what it shows you, but not republish it as a service. What you type into the questions panel stays yours; you allow us to send it to the model, keep it so you can read it again, and use it — without anything that identifies you — to improve how the panel answers.

Liability

CureSpy is an alerting and reading service over public data. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of what it reported or how it worded it, for a development it failed to report, for anything a register published incorrectly, or for a failure of a service we depend on. If we are liable to you for something else, our liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the event.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and nothing here takes away any right you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.

Which law applies, and where to complain

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania, and its courts have jurisdiction — without taking away any protection you have as a consumer where you live. If we cannot settle a dispute between us, and you live in the European Union, you may also turn to the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (Valstybinė vartotojų teisių apsaugos tarnyba, vvtat.lt) or use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will email you at least thirty days before the change applies, and you can end your account before it does. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
